Bitdeer Debuts SEALMINER A2 Bitcoin Miner with 16.5 J/TH Efficiency

Bitcoin mining and colocation provider Bitdeer has unveiled its latest generation of mining equipment, the SEALMINER A2, boasting an efficiency of 16.5 J/TH and a hashrate capacity of 226 TH/s.
Bitdeer announced the product through a testing demo video released on Thursday, stating that mass production of the equipment “is in progress.” In comparison, market incumbents like Bitmain and MicroBT have shipped the latest generation of Bitcoin miners with an efficiency of as much as 13.5 J/TH.
The release timeline and specifications for the SEALMINER A2 align with Bitdeer’s chip and miner development roadmap announced in June.
In the September production update, Bitdeer confirmed that the mass production of its SEALMINER A1 remains “on schedule” for completion in Q4. This model is expected to add 3.4 EH/s of proprietary hashrate to its fleet, deployed in Texas, U.S., and Tydal, Norway, by early Q1 2025.
The company also mentioned that the design of the SEAL03, the next generation of ASIC succeeding the SEAL02, is “on track” to tape out in Q4 2024, featuring a chip efficiency of 10 J/TH.
In an apparent move to make space for the new miners, Bitdeer has launched two additional auctions to sell 108 PH/s of used WhatsMiner M30+ equipment, with a minimum bid starting at $1.18/TH/s, as these older machines struggle to be profitable at Bitcoin’s current hashprice post-halving. Last month, Bitdeer auctioned 270 PH/s of used Antminer S19s with a minimum bid of $1/TH/s.
