Nscale Hires Former Oracle Data Center Lead to Drive AI Buildout

Nscale has tapped a veteran of hyperscale cloud buildouts to lead its global data center expansion, underscoring the execution demands emerging as AI infrastructure projects scale.
The company said Tuesday that Sam Huckaby has joined as President of Data Centers, overseeing construction, operations, and capital deployment across Europe and North America.
Huckaby most recently served as senior vice president of data center infrastructure at Oracle for a year, where he led global buildouts for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. Before that, he held senior leadership roles at Vantage Data Centers for six years, including chief operating officer for North America and chief development officer for EMEA, working on hyperscale campuses for cloud and enterprise clients.
In a post on LinkedIn, Huckaby framed his move as a bet on the long-term importance of AI infrastructure, writing that “AI infrastructure is one of the most consequential drivers in technology right now, and Nscale is playing to win.”
He also pointed to early site visits across Nscale’s footprint—including projects in Norway and Texas—as evidence of the company’s ambitions, describing what is under construction as “genuinely impressive” and highlighting the pace of expansion underway.
Nscale said Huckaby will be responsible for ensuring reliability, sustainability and performance across its facilities, as AI workloads push operators toward higher-density computing environments with tighter power and cooling constraints.
The appointment comes as developers race to deliver new capacity amid surging demand from AI model builders and cloud providers. In recent months, the bottleneck has increasingly shifted from access to chips to the ability to execute large-scale data center projects, secure power, and deploy capital efficiently.
While Nscale has not disclosed the size of its development pipeline, the company has positioned itself as an AI-focused infrastructure platform with projects spanning Europe and the U.S., including sites in Norway and Texas referenced in Huckaby’s post.
